We received an email from Quick 18 on behalf of one of their clients.  We wanted to unsubscribe, clicked the link and this is the message we got:

Plum Creek Updated

Unsubscribed Confirmed.  You would think that are unsubscribe request was processed.  No such chance.

When you read the small print it indicates that “We could not locate the account you are attempting to unsubscribe. There may be an error in the link that brought you to this page. If you want to continue to unsubscribe please login and edit your customer profile accordingly.”

In logging in, Quick 18 didn’t recognize the account.  We requested help via password reset.  It indicated password was sent.  It was never received.

I can’t not unsubscribe from this account.

To the credit of Quick 18, within 24 hours of being alerted to this confusing message, they responded as follows:

“Thank you for the heads up regarding the unsubscribe error in the email template that Plum Creek sent out.  It was a broken unsubscribe link and particular to that email template only. We have fixed the link as well as changed the language so it will not be as confusing to the end user.  See the new language below which has already been released.

Unsubscribe Error

We could not locate the account you are attempting to unsubscribe. There may be an error in the link that brought you to this page.

If you want to continue to unsubscribe please login and edit your customer profile accordingly. If you do not have an account but are receiving emails you can complete the registration process to activate your account then unsubscribe.

What do you think?  How can you get an email that doesn’t have one click unsubscribe capability?  I am not sympathetic that “there may be an error in the link that brought you to this page.”

Have I missed something.  Comment below.
