On November 13, 2025, Troon introduced a new rewards program—an announcement that caught many of their managed facilities off guard, as they had received little advance notice or training.

Although the Troon Rewards program was well‑intentioned, its structure created several challenges, beginning with understanding the rewards chart.  Here was the rewards chart for 2025:

TIERPOINTSPOINTS & CASH
7300150 & $15
6500250 & $25
5650325 & $33
4800400 & $40
31,100550 & $55
21,500750 & $75
12,0001,000 & $100
04,5002,000 & $250

Each of their tiers correlates to the green fee.  Kapalua Plantation course is a “0” tier, while Monarch Beach, the Grove in London, Giants Ridge in MN, and Costa Navarino in Greece are “1” tier courses throughout the year.  The Golf Club at Moffet Field in California and Silverbell in Arizona were correctly classified as a “7” tier course.

The flaw in the program was that golfers could earn points at lower‑priced facilities and redeem them at premier destinations such as Kapalua or Mauna Lani. This placed higher‑priced courses at a financial disadvantage. The more prestigious courses received no meaningful compensation for rounds redeemed through the program.

Troon Rewards was also flawed in its support for golfers. Despite submitting seven timely requests for loyalty posts to be posted for rounds played that the Troon-managed facility did not submit, we only received an “automatic reply from Troon support.

The cost to me of Troon not posting the rounds is estimated at $200.  Disappointing, but more perplexing, is that the new Troon Access program, at least to me, is baffling in its complexity, as the new rewards redemption chart has not been posted.   It is not possible to determine if converting to Troon Access or utilizing the Troon Rewards points is more advantageous.

The email received stated only the following:

What’s Changing

As of today, Troon Rewards Points will no longer be awarded for rounds played at participating courses. All golfers are now invited to join Access, a free, enhanced loyalty program that introduces several exciting benefits, including:

Simplified earning and redemption: Automatically earn Access Points every time you play when you book on our website or app

More flexibility: Redeem Access Points directly toward tee times – no fixed redemption table or blackout restrictions.

Integrated booking experience: Book reward rounds directly in our booking experience without the need to call the golf shop

Tiered rewards: As Access Premium members, you will get automatic Silver (Access Premium) or Gold (Access Premium+) status to earn rewards even faster

Transition Details

Additional information regarding Access, the conversion process and rate, and a comprehensive list of FAQs can be found here:

Members who do not convert may continue to redeem existing Troon Rewards points under the current Troon Rewards Terms & Conditions through October 31, 2026, after which the Troon Rewards Program will be terminated. Any unredeemed points remaining after that date will expire and will not be eligible for redemption or conversion.

Fron Troon Rewards members who convert to Access will carry over their Troon Rewards status to Access. Troon Rewards status-level discounts will be honored through December 31, 2025.

While the email stated Access was a a free, enhanced loyalty program that introduces several exciting benefits, there are entry fees for additional benefits as highlighted here:

That raises many questions.

The General Managers at some Troon courses are opting out of the loyalty program.  Will it be transparent which courses are participating in the program at the time of booking? The answer on November 13, 2025 was no.

Who derives the benefit of the Access fee paid to Troon by golfers?  Are the proceeds redistributed to courses or is at deemed a cost of administration?

The more important question is, “Who benefits from loyalty programs implemented by management companies: the management company, the course that they has been retained to serve, or the golfer?”

It would seem to me that the highest priority is that the benefit accrue to the client the management company serves.

What do you think?

Subsequent to posting this blog, I received the following email in which I sincerely believe Troon was unaware of the posting.

The response was warm and professional reflected below:

Zack D. – Program Support Specialist (Troon) Dec 24, 2025, 11:18 AM MST Hello Jjkeegan,

Thanks for reaching out regarding missing points, and we apologize for our delayed response.

On November 13th, we launched Access Points. As a result, if the round of golf was played after November 13, 2025, which is the date Troon officially launched Access, our new next-generation rewards and subscription program, Troon Rewards points can no longer be issued for rounds played on or after November 13, 2025.

However, as a one-time exception, to help you acclimate to the new program and process, and in the interest of expediting your inquiry, if you could let us know how much you paid for the round(s) – in a list format if requesting more than one round – we will simply go ahead and add the points for you, rather than make you wait for us to research every individual round – even if the tee time was played after November 13th.

For future reference, going forward Access Points can only be earned on eligible tee times booked through GolfWithAccess.com or the Access App. You can learn more about the new program and all the benefits at GolfWithAccess.com or in the Access App.

Regretfully they have failed to follow up and add the points to the account as of January 5, 2026.
