The National Golf Foundation’s (NGF’s) study on more than 1,500 Millennials has identified six ways to attract Millennials to the game (click here).

What I found of interest and encouraging was the classification of Millennials into three categories (click here):

  • The Throwbackers (3.3 million golfers, 51% of 18- to 34-year-old golfers)
  • The Breakfast Ballers (1.4 million golfers, 22% of 18- to 34-year-old golfers)
  • The Dabblers (1.7 million golfers, 27% of 18- to 34-year-old golfers)

Millennials represent 25.8% of all golfers today.   It is my opinion that as they turn to 35, have departed their parent’s houses, have gotten married, and started to raise children, the extreme sports that they now participate in (triathlons, tough mudders, rock climbing, etc.) will be  exchanged for golf due to its three principal attributes – time outdoors, recreation and social aspects.

That is what I think. What do you think?  Comment below.
