We sometimes take for granted how fortunate we are. I had the pleasure of playing yesterday the recently Gil Hanse renovated 7,039 yards, Par 71 Denver Country Club with the former Vice President of the USGA, who is a member of the R&A and the Paradise Valley CC and the owner of the prestigious Club at Ravenna, a Jay Morrish design.

It is the perfect course as we all age. It requires some well-struck shots but is forgiving enough, particularly off the tee, that it makes for a very enjoyable round. It was refreshing to play a golf course where the breaks in the greens were subtle contrasting to the dramatic green complexes with severe slopes that become in vogue.

The Denver CC reflects the contemporary private club today with tennis, pickleball, swimming, ice hockey rink, and contemporary men's and women's merchandise outlets with the culture embedded in tradition.

I was impressed and surprised by the custom-made bag tag etching our name.

The Rendition Golf Course, www.renditionsgolf.com, at 1380 W Central Ave, Davidsonville, MD 21035, managed by Landscapes Unlimited with a prime time green fee rate of $124, inclusive of cart and range balls, provides 18 replica holes, including the 11th, 12th and 13 at Augusta, the 11th at Merion and the 17th at Sawgrass with great authenticity. As one plays the 7th hole (the 11th at Augusta), music plays from the cart GPS screen to the theme song of the Masters.

The sign on each sign states, "Renditions has not received permission to copy the selected hole and is not associated with, affiliated with, or sponsored by the golf courses, champions, or championships listed here."

One might recall the litigation that "Tour 18" faced in copying the Lighthouse from Harbor Town at their Dallas and Houston courses.

I would recommend the course. While I had played 12 of the 18 holes, my playing companions enjoyed the experience of playing the simulated holes.

Take extra balls - you may need a few. Worst round of the year by a wide margin. Living in Colorado, forgot how long a 6,500 yard course plays at sea level. Long way to go but her first lesson was a great success in which David made her feel very comfortable and welcoming to the world of golf.

HIs help on my game has been nothing short of miraculous. He solved a 20 year old chipping/pitching issue and has me hitting my irons higher than I thought possible where is a prerequisite for low scoring at the Ridge at Castle Pines.

Was surprised cart paths on this club with 75000 initiation fees were dirt on many holes. The huge tree in the middle of 10 fairway and the overhanging tree approaching green on 15 I found curious.
